I never liked Sarah-Jane either, though when many years later I saw some of the stories she had been in I found her far less annoying than I had remembered. I wasn't very keen on K9 either.

She was supposed to be a strong-minded, feisty, career woman, but she seemed to spend most of her time either screaming or asking silly questions. Maybe she came across better if one was under ten. :)

Hmmm, but if it's set on present-day Earth, then he probably isn't a "companion", he'll just be participating in the episode to the same level he has before, being dragged into the mayhem.

'Sidekicks Rose and Mickey' seemed to imply they were both companions, but you're probably right.

I hope we get some alien planets though. I know all the Earth eps made a very satisfying arc in the end, but I'd like a bit of strangeness too.
