How bona to vada your dolly old eek
May. 9th, 2004 11:45 amYesterday we went to see Round the Horne... Revisited at The Venue, off Leicester Square. It is a performance of scripts from Round the Horne, and some bits of new material. It's staged as a recording session of two shows - so the actors are in part throughout as Kenneth Horne, Kenneth Williams, Betty Marsden, Hugh Paddick, and Douglas Smith... doing their various parts of the show. We the audience participate as lively radio audience, rather than as staid theatre audience.
It's brilliantly performed: the chap playing Kenneth Williams rises admirably to the challenge, although we thought that the chap playing Hugh Paddick was best. Naturally, Julian and Sandy are the stars of the show. The staaaaaaaars!
If you ever enjoyed Round the Horne, you'll very much enjoy this. It's an absolute riot and, of course, utterly filthy. I would happily see it many times. Many, many times...
