Writing again

I've still been very run down all week from this virus. We got antibiotics on Wednesday and they're kicking in, but I still have very low energy levels. Done very little in the way of work, although did manage to write a short story called Fair Game.



Fair Game

I wrote this at the request of a couple of friends, and also because I wanted to try writing in the style of a classic children's book. It is set some time after the events in my story A Game of Chess, but it's possible it would stand alone. People go bird-watching and find their courage. There is conscious homage to Antonia Forest's Falconer's Lure.

My utter adulation to your new story, and to Faramir of course. It's beautiful, and I would say that you definitely succeeded in writing the style of a classic children's book because it brings to mind of many I read as a child.

Finally got round to reading this. I do like it, even without knowing that much about your version of the characters.

The third paragraph made me laugh, because of all the different names and trying to work out who was who. I remember doing that with Antonia Forest's books, and other children's books when I've come at them in non-chronological order. By the way, is Leof (forgive lack of accent) supposed to be like Fob?
