Comfort reading

I was supposed to be seeing Pirates of the Caribbean this evening, but I've come down with some nasty little virus, transported back from the US by Mr A., who acquired it on an internal flight somewhere between California and Texas. He's been ill all week, while I've just had a bad sore throat, but this evening I went all flaky after the massive exertion of walking to the shop and bringing back a bag of potatoes.

So instead of going to the cinema (*sob*), I'm rereading Bujolds. Diplomatic Immunity arrived this morning (I was waiting for the UK paperback edition to match my set, but caved in after prompting over the weekend). A new Bujold always necessitates a reread of favourite bits of earlier ones, which is not a hardship since I love them. Today I was mostly rereading Barrayar, Memory, and - of course - A Civil Campaign. And started the new one.

How was Macbeth?

'Macbeth' was great - it was in the grounds of Girton College. Victorian gothic revival red brick affair. The chap playing Macbeth was particularly good (loads better than Sean Bean was!), and the chap playing MacDuff was splendidly AmDram: when he learnt of the death of Lady MacDuff and the Dufflings, he howled out his lines, and gave us the three-stage hands to head, fall to knees, flat on face affair. Magic.
