I've failed to send out cards this year on account of finishing up teh book, so I've spent my stamp money on some good gifts for you all instead. Please then to be enjoying your hive of bees and your puffin aid.

We are off to London this afternoon to spend the holiday with J&K&R. Whatever festival you are celebrating at this time of year, be it Yule, the Solstice, Hannukah, Christmas or Gauda Prime Day, I hope that you are well and happy, and rest assured that we shall be raising a glass to you all:

I find you don't tend to see his brothers on telly so much these days, I don't know why. I will admit to a small exclamation of delight when he turned up in A Knight's Tale, though.

Repeats of The Professionals and The Sweeney are also fertile Brimble territory.

Oh, I know. There's one - I can't remember whether it's a Sweeney or a Professionals - where he played an ex-con just out of prison and looking for revenge and he tied a hawk's feather behind his ear and I thought that was the coolest thing I'd seen. (I was young and I was from Sheffield; I hadn't seen many cool things yet.)

It must be The Professionals, he's a semi-regular copper in The Sweeney. But I'd have to rootle around the box set to make sure. Look at his fascinating bio.

Hm. The IMDb rules out The Sweeney - he's listed as a Detective Constable. He did two Professionals but neither of them sounds familiar. Could've been Dempsey And Makepeace. I see with interest he did Danger UXB and an episode of Space 1999, too, both of which I'd forgotten about.

That is an interesting CV, isn't it? I knew some of it already, but I'd never heard about the lecturing in Baghdad before.
