Xmas pressies wrapped, house tidied, a few emails left to write... just time for a last minute meme, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] selenak:

If you had me under your command and could make me write anything, regardless of whether or not I know the fandom or if anybody even writes fic in that fandom and no matter how crack-addled it might be, what would you love to see me write?

It was your mood icon that gave me this idea. K-9 somehow finishes up in Gondor. Or alternatively Faramir and/or Eowyn end up in the TARDIS where, as well as the Doctor and his companion, they meet K-9. That ought to be crack-addled enough. And I've been kind, in giving you characters that you know. :)

There aren't enough Tolkien/Doctor Who stories - you think it would be fertile crossover ground. I did a poll once on that subject... I wonder if I can find it again...

Aw, thank you! :-) I've seen a little NCIS, but only on transatlantic flights, and I thought the characters were a hoot.

"Escape from Cambridge." The tale of a revolution gone wrong, in which your opponents are Harvard and its fleet of zombified undergrads and evil genius luminaries of various MIT departments. It's a byzantine socio-political romp (with flamethrowers, bio-hazard signs, and very large books) where passing comps and outthinking the enemy is the only way to survive with your brain inside your head, to say nothing of achieving global domination.

Also stars Kurt Russell, because it must.

A friend and I have wasted about two hours of our lives on this awful idea. I've got a brother who does film stuff, now we just need an author to write this thing... ;-)

I would totally love you to write dark, miserable, dystopic SGA fic, because so few people do, and there's so much dubious morality you could work with that we mostly just pretend isn't there because John Sheppard is so pretty. Or maybe that's just me. I'd really like it if you wrote a story about how Teyla (alien from backwards culture, breasts, cliche, hopelessly underwritten - like Jenna, only thinner and worse) ruthlessly schemes her way to the top to save her own people by bargaining with the Wraith behind Atlantis' back to give them Earth. And maybe blows shit up.

Jill and her two ponies (or horses) are horse extras in the Lord of the Rings films.

Lois Sanger and Janice are suspects in a murder being investigated by Wimsey and Harriet.

Tenko fic, both during the time of the war and afterwards.

I'm just greedy me.

That's easy - more Tolkien, more Faramir, maybe some Elves just 'cause I'd love to see your take on them...

Also, I'd like to see you write Stargate fanfic, either SG-1 or Atlantis...

Or - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or the spinoff Angel). I'd especially love to see you write the character of Spike.

Date: 2008-01-02 10:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com
I suspect more Tolkien and more Faramir will be on the cards. I have a vignette about Faramir and Galadriel shifting around my brain; perhaps it will coalesce soon. Elves don't grab my imagination in the same way as Men or Ainur.

I have never seen either SG-1 or Atlantis. Almost unbelievable, but true.

Writing Whedon-fic scares the life from me: I'm not sure I could do the dialogue justice.

From: [identity profile] rakshathedemon.livejournal.com
Isn't it odd to find oneself more able to write somewhat archaic Tolkienesque dialogue than the speech of modern teenagers? I'd rather write Gondorian dialogue than Buffy and Willow at a mall any day. And the thought of writing Spike, who has been such a chameleon on the outside, despite his romantic core, is daunting.

(I don't know if I ever showed my List of Top 10 Things Spike Would Do In a LOTR Crossover to H-A or the lJ community. It's probably just as well!)

I would love to see your Galadriel and Faramir vignette. I'd love to write a scene with the two of them - Faramir would surely want to meet her, find out what she thought of Boromir (and wonder why the heck she didn't give him some specific counsel about ring avoidance rather than her usual cryptic utterance); and Galadriel might be intrigued by him. But I'm kinda scared to tackle that scene; Galadriel's head is not a place I'm usually comfortable visiting.

You should watch Stargate: Atlantis, if only for McKay's scenes with just about anyone; not to mention the hunky Major Sheppard.

From: [identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com
Yes, I'm much happier to write faux archaic than Valley Girl! My friend [livejournal.com profile] coyote_william writes about Spike, both fiction and meta: I don't know if you've seen her writing at all.

I don't think you ever did post that list...! Will it appear on LJ any day soon?

Those are exactly the things that I'd want to cover in a Galadriel-Faramir vignette: I have a sense that Galadriel tips Boromir over the edge in some way, when she probes the Fellowship in Lorien, and I have a feeling too that Faramir knows this ("What did she say to you, the lady that dies not? What woke in your heart then?") So I wondered to what extent he blamed her for Boromir's fall, and how he would react to her... particularly given that she is his new Queen's grandmother. It's still early days on that one yet, however.
