Though I was more than a little disturbed this afternoon when the results of a search (I wish I could remember what for!) placed Jeremy Paxman uncomfortably close to the word 'sex'. Brrr.
*g*. My mum actually emailed me to tell me that, along with that one of the contestants was the obnoxious younger brother of a girl I was briefly best friends with when I was 12. Did anybody know the answer?
All eight of them looked blank (or possibly shifty), and I simply didn't believe that one of the girls didn't know, and then one of the boys extrapolated from K/S to Star Trek characters, and was able to guess the answer. Who do these people have as supervisors? It's a national disgrace!
Jeremy Paxman is a BBC news journalist and broadcaster, particularly well known as the anchor of the late night news programme Newsnight.
He's famous for a very abrasive and combative interview style. (Most legendary is his interview with the Conservative Home Secretary, Michael Howard, in which Howard wriggled around and wouldn't give a direct answer while Paxman kept on asking exactly the same question in increasingly incredulous tones, eventually asking it 12 times. More on that story here.)
According to that Wikipedia page I linked to, you'll be able to see Paxo on BBC America from the autumn.
