I decided to ease up and read Three Men in a Boat. (Because I want to read Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog next.)

It's bloody funny.

Oh, have you read Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books? (The Eyre Affair and Lost in a Good Book)

If that's a recommendation, I second it ;)

I just read Wee Free Men! Thoroughly enjoyed it, another rec-second from me. The BoT loved it, too, I thought he was going to laugh up a lung :)

My dad had a copy, and I may have had bits of it read to me when I was very small.

Haven't read the Fforde books, although people keep on reccing them to me.

And here's someone else doing it, too. You'd better get on and read them. :-) (Btw, copies available for loan, if you want them.)

Eep! How do I miss these things? (Must be something to do with never leaving the house, I suppose.) Definitely a borrow, please - although still have several DVDs of yours to watch yet!

Ok!

No problem: it's nowhere near as many as *I* still have to watch. ;-)

I've never read all of 'Three Men in a Boat', only bits.
But I still managed to enjoy 'To Say Nothing of the Dog' hugely.

Have you read 'Diary of a Nobody'?

I managed to get through a fair bit of 'Three Men in a Boat' on the bus earlier. Hurrah for traffic jams.

Haven't read 'Diary of a Nobody'.

'Diary of a Nobody' by George and Weedon Grossmith.

As recommended by the parent who loves 'Three Men in a Boat', Terry Pratchett and has just recommended the fforde books to me as well.

The only one I've read of hers so far is Lincoln's Dreams. [livejournal.com profile] katlinel has lent me Passage, which I'll be reading shortly.

Everyone raves about Connie Willis, and I can't understand why I never heard of her or picked up anything by her before!

And 'Fire Watch', 'Impossible Things' and 'Bellwether' are also waiting for you when you wish.

Those three I bought in the U.S. a couple of years ago. It isn't that easy to get hold of her books in the U.K. (not that I've checked Amazon for them recently). Shops only seemed to stock 'The Doomsday Book'. That might be why you'd not come across her much.

I'll be eagerly awaiting your thoughts on Passage.

Oh, and I'm building up a collection of books for reading swapsies.

I got 'To Say Nothing of the Dog' via Amazon, but it's a US edition.

You're going to be installed in the Room of Books again, so come with a spare suitcase!
