When you see this post, quote from Doctor Who on your LJ.

Oh, all right then.

"What time do you call this?!"

***

Meanwhile, they made a show about Garak and set it in Miami and put it on cable! It's called Burn Notice and it's absolutely hilarious. He wisecracks as he's beaten up! His mum makes him drive her to the hospital! He has to find redemption make money by doing good works! It's like evil!My Name is Earl. But with spies! (Mr A.: and bikinis.)

Then Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip ended in bizarre fashion, with family, god, and military all briefly questioned, but each safely restored at the end to their rightful place as our best and safest authorities. Sorkin needs to stop writing about institutions. Watching the rich wring their hands and then restore the status quo is starting to get tiresome. Real life can supply that.

Oh, is Criminal Intent starting?

You know I have seen that preview many, many times but hadn't at all made the connection. Suddenly I have a much greater desire to actually watch it.

It was a lot more fun than I'd expected. I hope the rest of the season is this enjoyable.

There's much potential joy in this programme, I hope the writing keeps up. The scene with him driving his mum to her hospital appointment while trying to shake off the car tailing him was classic.

Much better to end up in Miami than a forsaken little space station on the edge of nowhere. As Mr A noticed, the scenery is better.

Tho' I'm sure Garak thought Bashir did wonders for the DS9 scenery!

"What time do you call this?!"

"My head. It's killing me."

It's called Burn Notice

I caught [livejournal.com profile] sugoll following your link earlier. I suspect it may have moved onto our to-be-watched list, especially now we've finished The West Wing.

Ooh, did you enjoy the end of The West Wing?

I'll keep watching Burn Notice and make further reports as the season progresses.

Well, being a soppy old thing, we were really pleased that Donna and Josh, and CJ and Danny finally got it together. I loved it when Mrs Santos made Donna her chief-of-staff. Yay for Donna being in charge of something and having a huge office, which looks as if it's bigger than my entire home. Oh, and Will and Kate were sweet too. Yay for Will's future in politics. And it felt like CJ made the right decision too. (I think I shall try and make some CJ icons now - I got spoiled for her becoming Chief-of-Staff, when I went hunting for screencaps a while ago to make icons, so I stopped looking to avoid more spoilers.)

For season 7 as a whole, we missed the White House crew, and wished there had been a bit more focus on that and a bit less on the campaign trail, with Josh getting it wrong nearly every single episode. But the interactions between Santos and Vinnick were brilliant. I thought they did a good job of showing Vinnick as a moderate to the point where Santos could offer Vinnick a job.

It's been a good show to have watched. We went back and watched the very first episode again, after watching the final episode. :-)

I was happy with the way both those relationships turned out - being a soppy old thing too :-) And, yes - good to see Donna having the confidence to take on a job that she has always been able to do.

I very much enjoyed the campaign - and particularly Arnie Vinnick - although it did mean that CJ got really lost in the story. And practically no Leo or Bartlett either.

And I also enjoyed rewatching early episodes again right after :-)

I didn't catch the final Studio 60 till this morning. I have to admit, I'm a sucker for a happy ending, so I enjoyed it quite a bit. As the day progressed, however, I realized that it all had a sort of crammed-in quality. Clearly, the arc was intended to be longer. Clearly, Jordan was supposed to kick the bucket so we could watch Danny's machinations next season to get or keep the baby.

Your analysis is much more cogent than mine. I knew I felt a bit uncomfortable with Matt turning to prayer, even for a second, but I didn't really know why because I was too busy sniffling over Tom's reaction to his brother being safe.

Well, it was an imperfect series but damn, at least it got an ending. And Aaron Sorkin can still write circles around most of what's out there.

I admit I've only seen the last few episodes of Studio 60, from K&R part 1 - which I thought was absolutely brilliant. I'll definitely try to catch it all if/when it makes it to UK telly - even if Sorkin frustrates me enormously at times, you're absolutely right that he's a class writer.

There was a great deal of the Sorkin talky-talky-talky that sometimes makes you want to shout "OMGSHUTUP" at the TV, but the series had some very fine moments. Personally, I thought the Christmas episode was one of the finest hours of television I've seen.

And even the oh-so-annoying banter is pretty witty most of the time. I'd watch the series again.

Ooh, now that intrigues - because the Xmas episode 'Noel' in The West Wing is in my TV top ten.
