A few of my favourite things
Jun. 29th, 2007 09:54 pmWhen you see this post, quote from Doctor Who on your LJ.
Oh, all right then.
"What time do you call this?!"

Meanwhile, they made a show about Garak and set it in Miami and put it on cable! It's called Burn Notice and it's absolutely hilarious. He wisecracks as he's beaten up! His mum makes him drive her to the hospital! He has tofind redemption make money by doing good works! It's like evil!My Name is Earl. But with spies! (Mr A.: and bikinis.)
Then Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip ended in bizarre fashion, with family, god, and military all briefly questioned, but each safely restored at the end to their rightful place as our best and safest authorities. Sorkin needs to stop writing about institutions. Watching the rich wring their hands and then restore the status quo is starting to get tiresome. Real life can supply that.
Oh, is Criminal Intent starting?

Date: 2007-07-01 04:37 am (UTC)Your analysis is much more cogent than mine. I knew I felt a bit uncomfortable with Matt turning to prayer, even for a second, but I didn't really know why because I was too busy sniffling over Tom's reaction to his brother being safe.
Well, it was an imperfect series but damn, at least it got an ending. And Aaron Sorkin can still write circles around most of what's out there.

Date: 2007-07-01 08:09 am (UTC)For season 7 as a whole, we missed the White House crew, and wished there had been a bit more focus on that and a bit less on the campaign trail, with Josh getting it wrong nearly every single episode. But the interactions between Santos and Vinnick were brilliant. I thought they did a good job of showing Vinnick as a moderate to the point where Santos could offer Vinnick a job.
It's been a good show to have watched. We went back and watched the very first episode again, after watching the final episode. :-)

Date: 2007-07-01 11:19 pm (UTC)I very much enjoyed the campaign - and particularly Arnie Vinnick - although it did mean that CJ got really lost in the story. And practically no Leo or Bartlett either.
And I also enjoyed rewatching early episodes again right after :-)
