I went to see Revenge of the Sith again last night, in the company of the wondrous [livejournal.com profile] glitterboy1, and I enjoyed it again immensely - substantially because I no longer had to concentrate at all on the dialogue to follow the plot, so it was just one great big epic and beautiful tragedy unfolding in front of me. Smashing.

Earlier in the day, this fair city delivered up the goods as I was taking back my library books, with an insanely clear blue sky, lots of punts on the river, and some students showing off rehearsing a play in one of the gardens. It is also exam season, which means you get to overhear bits of conversation like, "So long as haemorrhage comes up I'll be all right." That's the spirit.

I saw Episode IV in 1978, when I was 6 years old, and was as transfixed as just about everyone else of my generation. I didn't see Empire in the cinema, but I did see (and loved) Jedi.

Oh yes, I've seen it loads of times since. But it never became a massive favourite in the way it did for many of my contemporaries, who saw it in the cinema. Possibly not seeing it at the time is why I never became a huge SW fan in the same way I became a B7 fan.

That's what the end of B7 did to me.
