Does Rosie and Sam count as being in the book itself? I admit it's not done at as great length. And I do love how it's handled in the films.

Okay, there is another love story in LOTR, which I had completely forgotten. But it is really very well hidden; so it's no wonder that Sam probably tends to get paired up with Frodo more often than with his wife-to-be. ;) But the Sam/Rosie scenes in the films are cute -- and BTW, I think that Sarah McLeod as the sweet hobbit-lass is much prettier than Liv Tyler.
