Something for everyone with these new pictures. No hobbit-eating, [livejournal.com profile] archbishopm, but there are lots of pictures of His Grimaness.

Oh, and let's not forget the Houses of Healing pictures... guh!

I see your guh and raise you another one! I'm getting hugely over-excited about more Faramir, Eowyn...and Denethor, but everything else looks really cool too.

Did you see the creepy shot of Denethor seeing Boromir's ghost?

Yes, and I'm hugely intrigued and hoping against hope for a more complex Denethor than we got in the cinematic version. I'm sure the actor could pull it off so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm hoping he gets more time too. I'm sure just a bit will be enough: when the FotR EE came out, Celeborn became a totally different character, just from seeing the start of the scenes he was in, that had been trimmed back just a shade too much.

Why oh why o why are evil characters always played by British actors?

Thanks fo posting this link! Even though I am not quite satisfied with the thing that happens to the poor Mouth of Sauron (what about diplomatic immunity, even for the minions of Mordor?!?), the shot of Boromir and the Houses of Healing pictures make up for quite a lot. *sigh*

I wasn't sure about that beheading either (trying to get the cheers they got for when Lurtz got the chop?), but I've been ah-ing over Faramir and Eowyn all afternoon.

Lovely icon! Thanks! I got it from fileg's homepage. What a relief that there are so many talented and generous users willing to share their work with people like me (although I don't know whether I really lack talent for computer graphics or just decent software -- trying to make icons with MS Paint definitely sucks...).

All my nicest icons are courtesy of other people - I have the same MS Paint problem. I do okay cropping pictures and adding the occasional bit of text, like this one. Nothing extraordinary, though.

Yay hooray. I live for those Houses of Healing pictures. I wonder that he couldn't be bothered to put in a bleeding minute of Houses of Healing in place of some of the random crap he did put in. Boo.

I'll second that! I still think it's rather ironic that the only love story that is actually integrated into the plot of LOTR (and not merely relegated to the appendices) was cut, while PJ & Co. just invented a whole load of Hollywoodized Aragorn/Arwen mush in order to create a love interest for enticing their female audience. Not that I'd mind the fact that they wanted to extend Arwen's part, but Liv Tyler + moonlight + Enya in the background + see-through dresses + a dozen "to sail or not to sail discussions" were just a bit ... too much for me. Oops. Sorry for the rant. ;)

Oh, no worries. In point of fact I think Éowyn's story is a bit more appealing, and I'm okay with Arwen not doing much, so I rather resent the manufactured Aragorn/Arwen stuff.

And Liv Tyler looks like a duck.

Hmm, my best friend thinks that Liv bears an uncanny resemblance to a goldfish... Well, there's nothing better for enhancing our personal self-esteem than a bit of models/actresses-bashing. *g*

Does Rosie and Sam count as being in the book itself? I admit it's not done at as great length. And I do love how it's handled in the films.

Okay, there is another love story in LOTR, which I had completely forgotten. But it is really very well hidden; so it's no wonder that Sam probably tends to get paired up with Frodo more often than with his wife-to-be. ;) But the Sam/Rosie scenes in the films are cute -- and BTW, I think that Sarah McLeod as the sweet hobbit-lass is much prettier than Liv Tyler.

Thanks! Good heavens. Faramir and Eowyn -- guh to the tenth power, I think.

I have discovered that I can stare at pictures of David Wenham for periods lasting as long as five minutes without blinking. Do you suppose there's something terribly wrong with me?

Only that five minutes is a bit on the short side.

I never thought I'd develop a mini-crush on Wenham's Faramir. But sticking him next to Eowyn seems to have done the trick.
