Date: 2004-10-29 11:10 am (UTC)Lovely icon! Thanks! I got it from fileg's homepage. What a relief that there are so many talented and generous users willing to share their work with people like me (although I don't know whether I really lack talent for computer graphics or just decent software -- trying to make icons with MS Paint definitely sucks...).

Date: 2004-10-28 02:23 pm (UTC)I'll second that! I still think it's rather ironic that the only love story that is actually integrated into the plot of LOTR (and not merely relegated to the appendices) was cut, while PJ & Co. just invented a whole load of Hollywoodized Aragorn/Arwen mush in order to create a love interest for enticing their female audience. Not that I'd mind the fact that they wanted to extend Arwen's part, but Liv Tyler + moonlight + Enya in the background + see-through dresses + a dozen "to sail or not to sail discussions" were just a bit ... too much for me. Oops. Sorry for the rant. ;)

Date: 2004-10-28 09:44 pm (UTC)And Liv Tyler looks like a duck.

Date: 2004-10-29 01:00 am (UTC)A friend of mine always, always calls her "big-moon-faced-Liv".

Date: 2004-10-29 11:13 am (UTC)Hmm, my best friend thinks that Liv bears an uncanny resemblance to a goldfish... Well, there's nothing better for enhancing our personal self-esteem than a bit of models/actresses-bashing. *g*

Date: 2004-10-29 11:19 am (UTC)Okay, there is another love story in LOTR, which I had completely forgotten. But it is really very well hidden; so it's no wonder that Sam probably tends to get paired up with Frodo more often than with his wife-to-be. ;) But the Sam/Rosie scenes in the films are cute -- and BTW, I think that Sarah McLeod as the sweet hobbit-lass is much prettier than Liv Tyler.

Date: 2004-10-28 06:53 pm (UTC)I have discovered that I can stare at pictures of David Wenham for periods lasting as long as five minutes without blinking. Do you suppose there's something terribly wrong with me?

Date: 2004-10-29 12:59 am (UTC)Only that five minutes is a bit on the short side.
I never thought I'd develop a mini-crush on Wenham's Faramir. But sticking him next to Eowyn seems to have done the trick.
