Far more of you than expected proved frighteningly sensible in the Friday afternoon dilemma poll, although a brief surge of support secured a win for the Doughnut Plan. In the end, I couldn't be bothered to go out to the shop, and compromised with some biking and a sandwich.
In other news, the Mighty Saints prevailed against local rivals Wigan to win the Challenge Cup. This is a particularly serious local rivalry: my brother claims Wigan's 1989 defeat of St Helens 27-0 contributed directly to his decision to emigrate to New Zealand.

Date: 2004-05-16 08:44 am (UTC)Ouch, yes. Apparently the crowd was 73,000 which, given that the population of St Helens is only something like 177,000 means East Lancs must have felt empty. I hope everyone behaved well and that anyone who behaved badly was from Wigan.

We were pleased about that too. Hurrah for Sweden!

Date: 2004-05-16 02:01 pm (UTC)It reminded me a bit of 'Channel Nine' on the Fast Show. 'Boutros, boutros, ghali'.

Date: 2004-05-16 02:14 pm (UTC)That could be any one of a number of them. Except the Polish one, which I can tune quite well.
