My first sighting of S.B. was on PBS's Masterpiece Theater, which aired the adaptation of Richardson's Clarissa in which he portrayed Lovelace - he wasn't quite as thin as he appears in the picture from The Bill. There are a couple of good pictures of him in costume as Lovelace here (http://www.compleatseanbean.com/clari.html)
What the article says about the soaps being a good springboard for actors generally holds true here in the States too. I remember reading a list of actors who had begun their careers in the soaps - I should see if I can find it again. It's rather amazing to see some of the names and realize where they got their starts.
Gosh, I remember watching Clarissa at college with a bunch of friends, crowded around my tiny portable telly, right at the end of term... Yep, those dates match the memory!
We used to joke that when actors got their Equity card, they got a free appearance in The Bill to go with it.
I remember that miniseries. By that point, I knew who Bean was, and thought him a good actor. He was excellent, in a horrible way as the evil Lovelace.
He was merely pretty, he got handsome, and is well in his way to become beautiful. To wash the bad taste from your mouth (bad Altariel!), see here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/bean_daily/139664.html?#cutid1). Lovely blinding smile *melts*.

Is he ever! The comment posted with that picture is correct - he was the only good thing about that mini-series. What a waste of such a gorgeous and talented man.
I've been thoroughly enjoying all the pictures that have been posted from the upcoming movie

I've been thoroughly enjoying all the pictures that have been posted from the upcoming movie <a href="http://www.compleatseanbean.com/troy.html target="newwindow">Troy</a>. If the real Odysseus was anything like him, then it's no wonder Penelope kept unraveling that web. <i>:-D</i>
