A collaborative venture from members of Henneth Annûn to drabble The Lord of the Rings chapter by chapter. My own largely egregious efforts are In the House of Tom Bombadil, Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit, and Homeward Bound.

Oooh, excellent! Hope you enjoyed it. I was about to quote a funny line from it, but there are too many!

"A touch of lilac..." not least!

Indeed! The whole thing is just too funny. I keep meaning to dig out my VHS tape of the original episode, though it would probably be a disappointment after the DS9 take, which works on so many more levels.

It's so long since I've seen the original too... Could be (gulp) almost twenty years now...

Anything that shortens Tom Bombadil is a Good Thing... (But I'm mildly surprised that Henneth Annun doesn't condemn drabbles as uncanonical)

Ah, Tom Bom, the... I was going to say unsung hero of LotR, but that's not quite right, is it? Still the hero, though!

I read Tom Bombadil and smiled; I read Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit and laughed; and I read Homeward Bound and had hysterics. Still chuckling... thanks.

BTW, I shall never be able to read Barliman again without thinking of Rene. That was brilliant. And the middle one was really sad - poor bunnies!

Glad you enjoyed! The Watership Down one started out as a jokey idea; the 'Allo 'Allo one... I daren't go back and think how that all came about.

The Barliman drabble went completely over my head -- wrong side of the ocean for me. - I did send it to a couple of friends in England who thought it was brilliant. I loved the rabbits. The three chapters starting with Herbs and.. (well, let's just say the Faramir chapters!) are some of my favorite in the trilogy, but now I'll a have a double reading of this one.

BTW, the friends I mention are from the Wirral Peninsula. More or less near the place you've left behind you?

Glad you enjoyed the rabbit drabble, and that the Barliman one made your friends laugh :-D

I'm with you on liking the Faramir chapters :-)

Yes, very close - I come from the other side of the Mersey, and a little bit further east from Liverpool.

I see you're a fan of two of my favourite children's writers - Antonia Forest and Elizabeth Enright. I've just discovered the joys of Lymond (started Queen's Play last night).

Yes, I'm slowly replacing my photocopies of AF with the Girls Gone By editions as they're published. And I read the Melendys and the 2 Gone-Away books at least once a year - comfort reading.

Addictive! ... You know, no one dares write Dunnett fanfic -- ! There are some very funny collections of Lymond Chronicle limeicks, though.

I was delighted to discover Girls Gone By - spending as much on them as I am on Persephone Books. I have only recently tracked down one of the Gone-Away books (the second one) - must find the first having enjoyed it so much.

Dunnett fanfic... No, I certainly wouldn't have the nerve!
