I suspect that even though deep down we all harbour a suppressed desire to be the Patrician, we are secretly pleased to discover we are in fact Vimes ;-)

When I did this some time ago I was trying so hard not to be Nobby that I ended up as Sergeant Colon instead! I'm afraid to do it again in case the same thing happens and I have to face the fact that I resemble Colon. Actually his methods of disposing of paperwork in The Fifth Elephant and mine are rather similar...

Finding himself in the temporary position of Acting Captain of the City Watch, and drowning in a sea of paperwork, he solves the problem by binning the paperwork (i.e. burning it). I've never actually burnt any paperwork but I have definitely binned reams of it.
