And here are some old stories with a Christmassy flavour, some poignant, some sad, some happy, all hopeful:
A Pale Light Lingering
The old year ends, and Faramir makes the journey from Minas Tirith to Ithilien.
Spirits of the House
The old year ends, Boromir has not returned, and Denethor contemplates mortality. A seasonal AU.
The Use of Memory
"Memory is not what the heart desires..." Faramir and Arwen.
Mothers' Night
Faramir and Éowyn in Ithilien, weaving new traditions from old.

Date: 2012-12-25 01:35 am (UTC)I replaced my laptop this year and in restoring the hard drive from my backup, I found and reread the story you wrote me after the end of Chess, called Inheritance. Ten years on (!!!) it still remains one of the nicest gifts I've ever received.
I've reread The Use of Memory several times this year. Oh, Arwen. My heart.

Date: 2012-12-27 11:38 am (UTC)Yes, it really is a decade since A Game of Chess. Extraordinary. I'm so glad that you are still getting pleasure from your gift, because your support through writing is one of the most generous gifts that I've ever received.
I have another Arwen and Faramir story rattling around my head, quite a sad one, after Eowyn dies. In the meantime, did you see any of the fiction I wrote last year about Bron, Morwen, Leof, etc? That's all a lot more cheerful!

Date: 2012-12-29 11:45 am (UTC)I think I saw those stories and put them aside to read later and then forgot, or found it too hard or something. It's been an odd, scattered couple of years. They're the ones listed under Garden of Gondor series at AO3, right? I know I've read the older stories in that series before. Flowers of the Forest and In Passing, at least, I remember. I will go and read through.
So many of Arwen's stories are sad stories. I look forward to reading that story once it stops rattling around in your head :).

Date: 2013-01-25 01:36 pm (UTC)There are new stories under Garden of Gondor at A03, and some others there too, like Love Among the Ruins and Old Soldiers, both of which I think you might like. Everything's in order of publication at ff.net if you think you might be missing something.
