This interviewer seems to have picked up better on what your ideas and aims were in writing the book than some of those comments on Amazon? (I haven't read the book yet. I may get it today,as I'll be passing by Waterstones.)

It was really good to get a question about the female characters: I'd put a fair bit of thought into that. The reviews at Amazon have picked up a bit: I think there's some feeling that the range has taken a swing too far towards the Dark Side, and that some optimism would be appreciated. Fair enough for readers to say this!

Hope you enjoy it if you find it!

The optimism is good to have. Particularly as a reminder that we've survived other cold wars.

I did allow myself one chapter on the bus to the airport yesterday morning, though I was on a strict diet of proofs on the planes. But I think I may manage a bit more on the subway shortly!

Both true, though I should be approaching the UK this time tomorrow... More than halfway through the book now (though I will have to revert to proofs) and it played a starring role today - more later!

Went to your Amazon page and then nearly screamed with joy when I saw you have written a novel about Rugal from The Cardassians (one of the most heart-wrenching episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)! I must read it! Is it available in the U.S.?

It's been available in Canada since publication. It should still be in stock in some places in the US as well.

Yes! My favourite of my own books and by far my best. It should definitely still be available in the US. If you can't find it let me know.
