The number called today didn't appear on any of my cards! A day off. I had one prompt left over from the number called yesterday, O72, but I've been really struggling to answer it. It's from the "Review a Story" card, and the prompt was "Review a story that includes artwork".

My mind has blanked. The only one I've been able to think of is Dwimordene's Spartan Letters, and if the universe doesn't know yet how much I adore this story then either the universe hasn't been listening hard enough, or I haven't been shouting hard enough. The artwork for the piece, by the immensely talented artist Kasiopea, is linked from here (near the bottom of the page, but all of them are worth looking at in detail).

So I've decided to cheat a bit, and say that my response to this prompt is to a story - a song no less - by a marvellous writer called Treebeard, and it's a sad song about Entwives which moves me a great deal. Because then I have the excuse I've wanted in ages to link you to these exceptional pictures of Entwives by kaiorton. Click through and admire.

They're so female. I love them. Also, I feel better knowing they're in Valinor.

A reality show is being filmed across the street from chez moi, so my first thoughts were "Desperate Entwives!" and "The Real Entwives of the Shire."

Desperate Entwives! XD If you don't mind, I'm going to steal that as a title for a story I might be writing later on...

They are very, very nice. Can't you just see Yvanna taking care of them.

INteresting. I loved the first one, but disliked the others.

In my mind, entwives don't have breasts or hips. Their grace comes from the type of tree that they resemble. I see them as looking like birches and slender firs.

My pleasure! The rest of her art on that site is worth a look too.

Oh, those Entwife pictures are lovely. Though I do kind of agree that they should look more like different species of trees, as the Ents do. These art pieces work on a more abstract/symbolic level, though.

Yes, I felt they expressed "Entwifishness" very well. Glad you liked them!
