March is "Back to Middle-earth Month", a Tolkien fiction festival where you get daily fic and art challenges throughout the month, and take on as many as you like. This year's theme looks brilliant - a game of BINGO! More information here, and there is a new LJ community too: [livejournal.com profile] b2mem.

Must... resist... must... resist...

I resisted by asking for the poetry card. The cleverness of me!

Looks like great fun (read: distraction from schoolwork)! Never done it before, would love to try this year.

I know I would be mad to try to part - so I've asked for the poetry bingo card.

Do you reckon there could be a bingo card made up solely of things always seen in Faramir stories?

Yes, absolutely! Your ideas?

1. Blue and silver
2. Raven and golden
3. Hates killing
4. Reads
5. Weeps

Ha! Sounds like the makings of a fair haiku, if you ask me.

Maybe the rule could be that, if you go with one of those things, it has to pertain to anyone but Faramir. (Though the thought of that = sort of a downer)

Or perhaps we should be making a bingo card from things that don't happen to Faramir in fiction:

1. Functional exchange with Daddy Dearest
2. Is praised for bookishness

things that don't happen to Faramir in fiction:

How about;

Beats Boromir in sword play.

Beats Éowyn in sword play.

Is unfaithful to Éowyn.

Although, thinking abut it, that last one has been done once - some of my favourite stories start from something like that - the Eryn Carantaur stories start with him married to Éowyn and having an affair with his, male, secretary.

Perhaps reword it to 'Is unfaithful to Éowyn with a female.' (Oh noes! Have Arwen/Faramir plot bunny.... aims bow and shoots the little bugger!)

Oh man! Heresy! ;)

How about:
--Picks a fight.
--Is willfully cruel, to anyone.
--Doesn't floss--oh, no wait. Nobody flosses yet, do they?

Yes, I like those!

Wikipedia tells me that silk floss was used from about 1815. Could they produce silk fine enough in Gondor?

Could they produce silk fine enough in Gondor?

They doubtless could in Mirkwood....

Ooh, good ones! (Have you read [livejournal.com profile] cruisedirector's amazing stories? Arwen/Aragorn/Faramir/Eowyn.)

Yup. Seasons of Wonder on AO3.

Ah - I was about to say that it does sound familiar - but I consumed vast amounts when I first started reading in this fandom, so that I can't remember them all - and the journal is Locked without any link to the fic. But if I have the title... although I don't usually read at AO3 so it couldn't have been there, or it couldn't have been her story.

I will venture there to see.

The other author is ashinae (I'd forgotten it was co-written). I only found Seasons of Wonder, so I don't know if there are more at AO3, or whether they were collected into a single story.

I found them - and it was one of them that I did remember. But, to be honest, there is a bit too much porn without plot for my taste - at least, ten chapters of PWP is a bit cloying - I will not feel like going back to them for a year or two....

I'm notorious for skipping the sex in PWPs and just reading the bits in between, so I'd entirely forgotten that there was a lot of P. What I remember liking about them was the sense of joy - they all can't believe they've made it through, and after so long being desperate, they can't wait to spread as much love around as possible.

PS From flossing to foursomes in a matter of minutes.

OMG THAT'S FANTASTIC.

Flossing to foursomes--that's how we roll, here.

That might be fun.

I joined in a bingo challenge in the past - but never quite managed to complete a line. It made for nice prompts though - I wrote a series of the 'fill-in' stories, for my version of life after The Ring War, using 'schmoop bingo' prompts.

It's a really well-thought through challenge, I think - you have to start a response within 48 hours, rather than complete one, which is what made me think I might possibly do it. Last year's passport challenge created some really wonderful collage pieces.
