Some Doctor Who related things, some of which also involve ME ME ME.

  • Issue 9 of splendid webzine The Terrible Zodin is now available for download here, including a little interview with me.

  • TTZ's Who-ish version of Monopoly, Logopoly, is also available to download for the festive season, see here.

  • Coming in January - the Science Fiction Foundation's volume of essays on new Doctor Who: The Unsilent Library: Essays on the Russell T. Davies Era of the new Doctor Who, edited by Simon Bradshaw, Graham Sleight, and Tony Keen, with a foreword by Robert Shearman. Full list of essays and more information here. Should be available to order from that page and from Amazon Real Soon Now.

I was alerted to imminent publication by a Tweet in the early hours naming me as a contributor, but I protested that you'd need a textual-metalayer magnifying glass to find anything which I actually added to the zine... Generous of them, though.

You seem to be a good friend to them. Always nice to be appreciated!

I'll shall download that interview pronto. And hurrah for the The Unsilent Library - I am looking forward to that. I'm currently reading the second part of The Writer's Tale so my mind is full of things Who-ish.

Enjoy the interview! I haven't read the second part of TWT yet, I am a useless fan.

I did and it was lovely, particularly the Helen Cresswell reference and all the stuff about fanfic and, of course, the bit about ducks!

We've had TWT2 since Easter, so I haven't exactly been rushing to read it. I am a useless fan because I know nothing about the Zodin, apart from your description, which is clearly a self-portrait.

Edited for missing full stop.

The Terrible Zodin is named in passing in "The Five Doctors" but mostly appears in spin-off material. So not a bad fan at all!

your description, which is clearly a self-portrait

A portrait of my alter-ego. Tolkien Done the Wordz.

Thank you for the handy link! And because it's on the Internet, it must be all true.

A portrait of my alter-ego.

Yes, but I have tremendous difficulty telling you apart, as you know Bob.

Tolkien Done the Wordz.

And fine words they are too.

It's a great read and the e-mail exchanges work surprisingly well, better than I expected before I read the first part.

Ooh, I like the look of that essay collection. (And I still think your title is the best ever!) Shame it's not out in time to go on my Christmas list, but still!

Yes, it look like a great collection. Would be an ideal stocking filler, but never mind!

Phew! Thanks for downloading, and I'm really glad you enjoyed the interview! It's a great zine, I bet you'll enjoy the whole thing (several earlier issues too, if you can face downloading them!).

I have to admit that I was slightly put off by the over-active design (though the illustrations are excellent).

Ooh, that essay collection sounds like a must-have - and for once it costs less than £30! Can't be bad!

It's a really good price - unlucky it's not available for Xmas presents, but much better not to rush out a book. I'm pleased with how my own essay came out, and I'm particularly pleased to have something published by Foundation.
