Terror of the Zygons
altariel: I do like the pizza men. I could gobble one of them up.
mraltariel: I'm not sure. They look like they need reheating. But! They're still the best monster design in years.
altariel: Particularly the blue contact mike. Or is that an alien stud? Did we like the story? I can't remember much about it, which means it was probably fine.
mraltariel: Er... Yes, I do like 'Terror of the Zygons'. Harry-duplicate is cool. They should do that again.
altariel: They will, Oscar. They will.
Planet of Evil
altariel: I think this is a corker. I love the eerie studio jungle and the contrast with the stark studio spaceship. The only thing I really don't like is the low neckline on the spacemen's suits. *shudders*
mraltariel: One should not be subjected to that much greying chest hair. You forgot a shout-out for the cool glowy blobby monster.
altariel: I shall shout out now. Yawp!
mraltariel: I always think I dislike this story. But I didn't. Maybe eight-year-old me thought the Target novelization was crap. And it is a bit "Sci" "Fi". But I was wrong.
altariel: I think it works for you because it's less "Sci" and/or "Fi" and more horror.
mraltariel: Yes. You are, as always, right.
Pyramids of Mars
altariel: What is there to say? Near perfection.
mraltariel: The best bit is Ibrahim Namin playing the incidental music for us on the preposterous organ that everyone has in their Jacobean mansion.
altariel: The preposterous organ of ill portent. Do you have one in your Jacobean mansion? I have one in mine.
The Android Invasion
altariel: I know this story holds a special place in the narrative of Our Life, but the lack of suspense really annoys me. Why do they mention the androids in the title? Why do they mention an invasion? Without all that, it would be a perfectly decent episode of 'The New Avengers'.
mraltariel: I like the little rhino men.
altariel: Oh look! They've duplicated Harry! Renewable narrative from sustainable sources or lazy script-editing. You decide.
mraltariel: Presented with a Terry Nation script I suspect the script-editor has anything other than a lazy day.
The Brain of Morbius
altariel: Philip Madoc!
mraltariel: Hurray! And probably Sarah's foxiest outfit when she takes the jacket off. I didn't mention Sarah's outfit in 'Planet of Evil' either. Let me rectify that now.
altariel: Did you like the story too?
mraltariel: Oh there was something about doner kebabs and a load of Miss Havershams. Or something. It was fine.
altariel: Close enough.
The Seeds of Doom
altariel: Endless. Endless. Plotless. Endless.
mraltariel: Awful. Endless.
altariel: Endless.
mraltariel: I thought that was never going to end.
RankingPyramids of Mars
Planet of Evil
The Brain of Morbius
Terror of the Zygons
The Android Invasion
The Seeds of Doom
altariel: So that was season 13.
mraltariel: Note that we haven't mentioned Tom Baker.
altariel: There's a reason for that. Tom isn't very good, is he?
mraltariel: No. I'm rather surprised.
altariel: Here's a thing I never thought I'd say, but I'm missing Pertwee.
mraltariel: Me too. Tom's character is a bit all over the place, frequently mean, and only occasionally kind to Sarah.
altariel: He's horrid to Sarah.
mraltariel: Who has become pointless.
altariel: Lady people are really not very well served in this season. Not served at all in some stories.
mraltariel: Where is the Sarah of season 11?
altariel: It is an improvement on last season.
mraltariel: She is in some of the stories.
altariel: Oh well, I'm sure there'll be lots more Sarah action in the next season.
