Quick heads-up for those who like gritty seventies noir: Channel 4's (three-part?) adaptation of David Peace's Red Riding Quartet starts next Thursday, 5th March. Sean Bean, David Morrissey, Warren Clarke. More here.

Redemption fabulous; long con report in progress.

I am holding my thumbs and closing my eyes and chanting: "let it be good let it be good let it be good..."

I've just got out 1977 and I'm reading it now. Of course there's been a lot of stuff on telly since he wrote it: I hope it doesn't come across as unfairly derivative, when it's actually what they were all derived from.

It seems to be Peace's year, what with The Damned United coming out soon.

I haven't read that one (oddly, given [livejournal.com profile] mraltariel is a Forest fan).

I think it's his most accessible book, perhaps because the story and characters are familiar. I'm a big fan of the Red Riding books and '84, but sometimes it's hard to keep track of who's who.
