Back to hamfisted lepidoptery. I think this is a Speckled Wood. When I looked it up, it said: "found in woodland and scrub where dappled sunlight and areas of lush grass grow in damper areas". I'd already cut the picture to make a feature of the patches of sunlight, so that worked out well.

Your butterfly visitors are quite impressive. You should have enough photos to do a whole string of butterfly collages or icons or what not by the time you're done!

I'm amazed at how much diversity there's been. This is all about four feet from where I sit and work in the kitchen. There's one more large white butterfly that I particularly want to identify, but it was too fast for me today.
