11. His father was a dancer before him
12. We see what comes to pass/You can bury us in your earth, or place us behind glass
14. Just coz I ain’t never ’ad no nothin’ worth havin’ - no, never
15. Let me bring you love from the field
16. Won’t you fetch another white girl to play with in the sand
18. My daddy left home when I was three
19. See how the child reaches out instinctively
22. The devil he taught me to roll
24. People I was sittin this morning with this on my mind/Said there ain’t no livin man who gone around the world three time
25. Well I’m waiting for something to take place/Something to take me away from this race
26. Oh I’m still missing my other half/Ah it must be something I did in the past
30. Well I woke up today/And the world was a restless place
31. Betty came by on her way/Said she had a word to say
32. Unfolding enveloping missiles of soul/Recall senses sadly
34. Is happiness real?/Or am I so jaded?
36. Oh GI Joe put your gun away
38. Ten years living in a paper bag
41. Young teacher, the subject, of schoolgirl fantasy
42. I’d like to help you doctor yes I really really would
44. I begged her not to go and I begged her on my bended knee
50. Then something struck me as if it came from up above
51. I was born long ago/I am the chosen, I am the one
53. Every day I have to look to the sun/To see where it was that I have come from

Well, #15 is "Songs from the Wood" by Jethro Tull. And #41 is "Don't Stand So Close to Me" by the Police. I'm sure some of those other are entirely familiar, too, but my brain's pretty much shutting down right now. :)

Curses, I should have edited out #41 as [livejournal.com profile] white_hart had already got it. But you're right - and you're dead right with #15 too, well done on that one!

I think there was only one that I knew yesterday, and someone had already got it! I'm endlessly impressed by people who get so many of these things.

50. - Is it Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat from Guys and Dolls? Probably not.

Ooh, you are so nearly there with #8! (That really is a particularly tricky one.)

#50: No.

Dammit! How can one be nearly there with a song!? *fumes under thinking cap*

Ah well, 50 was a bit of a long shot... I do love Guys and Dolls.

Picture both of us cackling evilly. (There are two lines for a very good reason.)

#30 is Murray Gold's Song for Ten, recorded by Neil Hannon but originally performed by someone else.

You big Whovian, you.

#1 is Pleasantly Blue, but I don't remember who it's by.

You big Whovian, you.

Hey, you guessed it!

#1 is Pleasantly Blue, but I don't remember who it's by.

That's right - it's not the one they're famous for, which is, um, clue... er: "25 years of my life and still/I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope/For a destination". Gosh I remember when I was the right age for that lyric...

50 is "The Fortune-teller", which I didn't guess before, because everyone and their goddamn mother have recorded it. I've been listening to the Page & Krauss version lately, but there are about a billion artists it could be.

26 is Lou Reed's "Goodnight Ladies"?

Spot on with both of those. I *wanted* to be listening to the Plant & Krauss version, but, sadly, I paid money for that, so it is all DRMed up, and wouldn't play on t'XBox via my MP3 player. Of all the billions of performances it could be, in this case it was The Who, Live at Leeds.

The second line from #8 could be from Led Zeppelin's 'Heartbreaker', but I don't remember the line before it!

#34 I think is 'Changing Man' by Paul Weller.

From: [identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com
That's quite right with #8. The line before is from 'Heartbreak Hotel', guessed by [livejournal.com profile] toft_froggy upthread.

And that's right with #34: I'm really suprised nobody got that sooner.

There were a couple of others I guessed correctly for, but generally I was flummoxed, and the Suzanne Vega was the only one that hadn't been guessed by everybody else.
