It's one of those brief sunlit moments when the interests of the nation intersect with my own. Switching on BBC News this morning, the B7 theme tune is blasting out. Regressing for a moment to my 1987-self, who always had a tape in the VCR for just such an eventuality, I thump 'record'. Later, there's a little item in which the guy from SFX, bless him, talks about how it was really quite a serious drama while THE CAMPEST CLIPS IMAGINABLE (from Gambit) are shown. Happy days.

Tee hee! The world is arranging itself for our amusement. It's about time.

[resists the temptation to slip Gambit into the DVD player]

Will this be appearing on YouTube for the benefit of those of us who missed it?

I'm pretty tempted to go and watch 'Gambit' too. Why the hell not.

I've no idea how to get the clip from my Sky box to YouTube, but who knows what someone out there might be capable of.

I saw most of that segment this morning. It made being up at such an unnatural Saturday hour seem worthwhile.

I woke up at 5.30 this morning. Bloody summer.

Blake's 7!!! One of the darkest shows with a camp factor of 110% EVER!!!

I recently tried to convince my roommates about Blakes 7 as being a mixture of high camp and Serious Tragedy by showing them Gambit. In retrospect that may have been a mistake.

'Gambit' is more a mixture of high camp and higher camp. Hmm, now, what would deliver the goods. 'Trial', perhaps, or 'Star One'. 'Pressure Point' (I'm thinking of Kasabi kneeling down wearing khaki fatigues while Servalan holds a gun to her head and is wearing that extraordinary hat and boot combo. But 'Pressure Point' is achingly dull in places.)

Ah, my beloved Peacocks in Space...

And of course, that's one of the things the new people are simply incapable of grasping.
