I enjoyed it too. It had the usual strengths and weaknesses of a Russell T Davies episode, but I very much warmed to Donna Noble and the way that she was portrayed by Catherine Tate.
Yes, like Patrick Troughton, mostly I'm not keen on the latest revision, though it has one or two interesting elements. And I did think the incidental music was getting more intrusive. The credits whizzed by far too fast to tell whether Murray Gold is responsible.
This household supports that view! I'm trying to find a picture to make a Bernard Cribbins icon, but Chaotic Creative seems to have stopped doing caps, bah.
This household temporarily consisted of iainjcoelman and i_smell_shite and siggav and a friend of the latter, and rejoicing and marvel was shared among us.
Bernard Cribbins was utterly smashing, and had tea in a thermos and a telescope in an allotment and tells his granddaughter to get out there and grab and waves her off with delight, and isn't that exactly what anyone would want in a grandfather? I hope there is more Bernard Cribbins. I hope Chaotic Creative make some caps soon or else someone else does.
We've just re-watched it, and I love the little dance of joy he does, because Donna's found the right man and is flying off in the little blue box of joy.
