I hadn't forgotten, but otherwise I think a reformat and clean reinstall would do my brain the world of good. Useful trick - when hunting for something in a cluttered drawer, it's much easier if you can remember what it is you are looking for. Me-sheesh.
Did you end up doing that thing with your hand where you imitate a pair of scissors, in the hope that this would somehow bring to mind the thing you were looking for which probably wasn't scissors anyway?
Mine's the kind of movement that would look like a sock puppet talking. If I had a sock on my hand. And if it could talk.
Personally, I think it comes from the vain hope that, if you make grabbing movements, your hand will somehow remember for you. It's similar to (and about as effective as) going back downstairs and then upstairs again, in the hope that you'll somehow remember what it was that you originally went upstairs for.

Hey, that counts as strenuous exercise so far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, it's probably that. Sometimes I click my fingers, too, maybe I'm subconsciously wishing my calculator or forceps or diary would come when I call.
going back downstairs and then upstairs again
Done that. Too often. Not at work, so much, thank goodness, as my workspace is on level five, and most of my reasons to go downstairs are on level one. I would spend half my life waiting around for lifts if I kept doing that at work.
Isn't getting old good?
I would like to state for the record that having Senior Moments before I've even come of age (in hobbit terms) is Not Fair.
waiting around for lifts Tell me about it. I've given up on the lifts at work altogether....
having Senior Moments before I've even come of age (in hobbit terms) is Not Fair. This is just a taster, believe me. :-( Anyway, as I remember from a while ago, you don't have that long to go, and then you'll join the rest of us oldies.
Birthday number thirty-three in less than two months. Which means - ack! - that I mustn't forget to buy cards for the rest of the tribe, who all have birthdays in the preceding month.
Are you going to pursue the idea of fireworks for your birthday? Sounds a cool idea, though beyond me: it's as much as I can ever do to organise a curry! Hope you do something appropriate, anyway.
As for clusters of birthdays, that's most inconsiderate of them. May is like that for me: as well as my birthday, there are four other lots of cards and presents.
I'm still very enamoured of the idea, but knowing me, I'm unlikely to organise much beyond a box of sparklers. Where would one buy fireworks at this time o' year, anyway? Might just have to be a gathering involving lots of ale and short people with hairy feet. Perhaps I should send Ian McKellan an invite ;)
She's shorter than me, too. Which didn't used to be a very select group at all, but sometimes feels like it now. I'm sure that undergraduates are getting taller. (Hmm, or maybe I'm... no, let's not go there.)

As for fireworks, there's a party shop on Cherry Hinton Rd, who I was once told do them all year round. Sorry, don't know any details.

I object! I don't have hairy feet, and you've never fed me cat food!

Anyway, you're too tall for a hobbit.

Actually, all this Ozzery reminds me: there's a new DVD of 'Wild at Heart' isn't there? Must keep an eye out for it...
