So, of course, I had to go and look it up. And while his first name is quite boring, his middle name is Antonio! Now he's conflated in my head with Antonio Banderas, and I'm imagining a version of Once Upon A Time In Mexico with slow-motion snooker frames alongside the gunfire. I think it's something to do with the black and white outfits.

It would have to called Once Upon A Time in Sheffield.

I picked option one, because if it isn't, it ought to be.

I'm also thinking about St Clare's, and wondering whether he's connected with the twins or Alison.

Perhaps Gwendolen went on to win the Women's World Championships? All those times when everyone thought she was bunking off games and really she was just practising her trickshots.

God I wish that was true.

In the whole of the multiverse, there is a universe in which that is true.

I bet she didn't really want to go to finishing school in Switzerland; she wanted to go on the snooker circuit.

It's long for Ron, which is short for Ronald.

Being unimaginative, I'd've guessed Ronald myself...

My neighbour was called Ronnie, but her initial was "I".

"Ironic"?

I once met a transsexual who introduced herself as "Vron". It was really quite painfully obvious that she had originally been a Ron, of the sort who sits behind tables in pubs nearly pushing them over with his belly and discussing the week's tabloid scandals over a steadily increasing clutch of empty pint glasses.

The music of the spheres (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black)

*snort* I've only just noticed this. I've set you off, haven't I :)

I only recently discovered that Hieronymus was Latin for Jerome, and I was deeply satisfied to work out the etymological progression from Hieronymus to Hieron'mu to Ierom to Jerome. It pleases me in some profound way every time I think about it.
