1. What was the very first fandom you got involved in?
Heh. In 1980 my brother went to a Blake's 7 convention and I sulked because he wouldn't take me too (I was eight at the time). Long lonely years of secret idolatry followed, and then in 1988 I discovered the fan club. And there was a brief dabble with Dr Who fandom in the early 90s.
2. What is the most recent fandom to catch your interest?
To be sucked into to the detriment of all other activity in my life? Tolkien fandom. Dabbled on the edges? Buffy. Buffy fandom seems to be a very good way of turning previously innocent mundane friends into Fans.
3. Fandom you've stayed loyal to the longest?
See question 1. Twenty-three years counts as loyalty, I think. Or something.
4. Fandom(s) you're most passionate about?
I love them all for their own little ways.
5. Fandom(s) you wish you could get into, but can't?
If I was really interested in something, I'd go and take a look round. I'd like more episodes of Callan and I'd like some episodes of The Sandbaggers.
6. Fandoms you're curious about, but never had the chance to get into?
Methos-lovin'.
7. Fandom that's been the most fun to be involved in?
Oh, I'd have to say Blake's 7, really, wouldn't I? The Way of Life thing. But then DS9 has been very rewarding - it's deeply cathartic and sometimes downright entertaining to inhabit Garak's head. Well, apart from the angst and stuff. DS9 has been the most hassle-free fandom I've been in. Apart from Colditz fandom which, since it's apparently just Mr Altariel and me, it would be a bit sad if it was a hassle.
8. Fandom that's been the least fun to be involved in.
Fun is the key word here. If I realize I'm not having fun, I pull back, get a grip on myself, remind myself why I do this stuff, and start making it fun again. Which usually means doing a bit of writing.
9. Fandom you're ashamed to admit you were involved in?
I have no shame.
10. Are you looking for a new fandom, or actively avoiding getting sucked into something new?
I probably don't need anything else at the moment, but thank you for asking.
Why is the face that comes with 'lazy' so grumpy? I think 'lazy' is a nice way to be.

Date: 2003-06-04 10:44 am (UTC)It's a gateway fandom! A few years down the road they'll be mainlining furry Trek boy-band slash like there's no tomorrow.
