Chicago Summit 2007
Sep. 3rd, 2007 01:31 pmI have just got back from a weekend in Chicago with my fantastic friends and fellow fanficcers Isabeau and Dwimordene. Eee, why does there have to be the Atlantic ocean and a continent between us?!
There may be stories. Oh yes, there may be stories...

Date: 2007-09-04 04:46 am (UTC)I'm glad you were able to get together with Isabeau and Dwim, and had a great time. Chicago's a fun city, especially at this time of year.

Date: 2007-09-05 01:17 pm (UTC)It was just beautiful up there: warm but not punishing, and the city was glowing. I gather this period around now is the perfect time: cooled down from summer, winter freeze hasn't yet come.

Date: 2007-09-06 02:39 pm (UTC)September and early October are absolutely the best time to visit Chicago, for just the reasons you stated. Did you get a chance to do any sightseeing while you were there?

Date: 2007-09-06 05:50 pm (UTC)We did next to no sightseeing, really: walked along the Lake from Evanston up to Northwestern, and sat there for a while, and did some wandering around Evanston itself (which was lovely). And then Isabeau and I had to drive through downtown to get back onto the interstate: that was simply stunning. I have to go back there.

Date: 2007-09-10 04:48 am (UTC)And you haven't even seen Iowa yet! :D
Chicago's a great town with a stunning lakefront and plenty of things to see and do. It would make a great short getaway for you. Just stay away from it during December through February unless you don't mind cold!

Date: 2007-09-06 12:08 am (UTC)Because otherwise, at least some of us would starve to death happily avoiding all forms of paid labor! See, it really is the best of all possible worlds. ;-)
I'm so glad you both were able to come out to Chicago - it was a great time! We've definitely got to do Cambridge Summit or Louisville/Lexington Summit.
