I had a fantastic weekend in Dorset (despite a hideous dose of food poisoning on Saturday night). Cerne Abbas giant, Lyme Regis, Corfe Castle among the many pleasures. I feel like I haven't stopped in ages (Slash Fiction Study Day in Leicester today), and the rest of this week is equally frantic. I'm loving reading all your Redemption reports. My qresearch email address is completely fried but those with the knowledge of my yahoo address can reach me there.

Eeep, I'm sorry about your food poisoning! At least it didn't ruin the whole thing, but it's still a great shame.

I hope that the slash study day went well today. I wish I could have been there, too, but I hope I can make it next year, if it's on again.

Good luck with the rest of your week...

It was a real shame, and I felt pretty flaky on the Sunday, but we took it easy and I wasn't going to let it spoil the weekend. By Monday I was fine, if a little tentative about eating rich food. By Wednesday I was shovelling curry into me, so situation normal once again.

The slash day was great: uniformly good panels. Slash 3: Return of the Slash was being advertised while we were there, so hopefully you'll make it to that one!

I'm glad you're ok again now. Apparently, some people didn't feel too good after one of the buffets at the con, too. Clearly, there was a food bug out to get you, wherever you were....

Oh, yes, thanks for the reminder about next year. I saw [livejournal.com profile] dr_porn's post about it. I'm going to go and put it in my diary now.

Yay, glad you had a good time, but woe on food poisoning! Looking forward to hearing about the slash study day.

Woe indeed! I should only ever eat food cooked by [livejournal.com profile] mraltariel's own fair hands! I hope I get a chance to write up about the slash day - the papers I went to were uniformly good and some of them were downright brilliant. I think there might have been an SGA one, but I must have been somewhere else at the time!

Post-Redemption Question

Hello

Would you like a little tin Moomin lunchbox? It served its original intended purpose at Redemption, and [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse suggested that you might like to give it a permanent home.

Oh, how kind of you to think of me! I would absolutely love it - thank you so much!

Sorry to hear about the food poisoning, and I hope you're all better now. I'm glad the weekend was good, and that you didn't knock yourself unconscious jumping off the Cobb (?) like Louisa Musgrove did.

I hope the Slash Fiction Study Day was at least as good as last year, and you also get some time to relax this week.

I'm fine now, thank you - well enough to tuck into curry on Wednesday! I wisely stayed off the Cobb (it was very slippery and my shoes weren't ideal), and just walked along the path beside it. One of the cottages on the front was called Harville Cottage! It was the most lovely place.

The Slash Day was great, although we missed the first talk as a result of spending forty minutes trying to park in the centre of Leicester, grrr... This week has been a bit frantic, but I'm off to the Lake District later today, and I hope I can get a chance to relax while I'm there.

I'm still at home with 'flu.

*snuffles gratefully*

Glad you're all over the food poisoning. Staying away from the Cobb sounds very sensible indeed. I haven't been to Lyme Regis for many, many years - I'm glad it was all pretty, even in February, and that, most rightly and properly, there was a Harville Cottage.

Oh, my! I hope you're all right again?!
Sadly, I've never heard the places you mentioned, but I'm glad to hear that you had a good time.
Have you made photos?

I'm fine now, I was shaky the day afterwards, and was a little bit off food for some of the week, but I was able to tuck into a curry by Wednesday night, so I think we can call me cured!

I stupidly didn't a camera along with me, but here are some online pictures: the Cerne Abbas giant; Corfe Castle; and Lyme Regis. A day trip to Lyme Regis is a very important part Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, which is one of my favourite books.

Some day I'll see the Cerne Abbas giant! The last time I was in England I was foiled by no-bus-on-Saturday. :-)

What a shame! Countryside buses are a bit erratic in the UK, I think. I doubt we would have been able to get there if we hadn't been driven by friends (we'd hired a car for the weekend). The giant himself was in need of a bit of weeding, but still looked mightily impressive, and will look tremendously impressive on the t-shirt our friend took home with him!

I was absolutely stunned by how beautiful Lyme was. I expect seaside towns to be very faded, often quite dispiriting. But even in February, it was so lovely.

Glad it was a good weekend, despite your hosts trying to poison you, and I'm envying you the slash day! I thought it was a bit too early in my new career to beg a day off for that purpose :)

I thought that was probably the case - the good news is that Slash 3: The Return of the Slash was already being advertised at this one. You should do a paper next time - there was a panel of literary slashing that you would have enjoyed (one on Shakespeare's Sonnets, the other on Billy Budd, novella and libretto).
