So, yes, it's snowing, which in the British context is worthy of a post. And, contrary to expectations, the sky hasn't fallen on my head. In fact, traffic is moving smoothly along the gritted road outside my window, and the bins appear to have been emptied too. UK city in competent administration shock - although, of course, for all I know it's a post-apocalyptic free-for-all down the road. I'm going to spend the day in my pyjamas for extra cosiness, particularly as they're shot through with silver thread and called cyber-jammies. What decadence!

Date: 2007-02-08 10:10 am (UTC)The cyber-jammies look a bit like this, only with long sleeves, more pale blue than green, and I am not even remotely like the model except for basic species markers like opposable thumbs.

I love falling snow and the look of the neighborhood right after it falls. It was quite depressing to have a no snow winter up until a few weeks ago. I am glad we got some, because the white makes the damnable cold that followed easier to take.
Any society has a functional breakdown with more snow than usual. If you seldom get it, a few inches creates havoc. In Alaska, Colorado, or Finland, a few feet is cleared away in hours and life goes on.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

:-D They were playing that on the news this morning over pictures people had sent them of various snowy scenes.

The tiny amount of snow we had has gone.

I stayed in jimjam-mode till about 5pm. But it's choir practice tonight, so I suppose I ought to get dressed if I'm going outside. (Oh to be more like the Dude from The Big Lebowski.)

I hope the roads were clear for your journey to choir practice.
