Yes, I'm NaNoing. I'm not on the site. Last year I found the official site more of a distraction than a help. I've only got around 2200 words. The worst part of that is that I'm like 1/4 of the way through the story. Maybe it wasn't really novel material.
I've stayed off the forums at the offical site, but I've various friends doing it, and it's been good to see how they're coming along. Not being sure whether I have a novel's worth of material is my own problem.
Looks like an interesting community. I was in a prompting community last year, and tiw as fun but all it did was sidetrack me. I think I'm better off with just me and my computer - and not logged onto the internet! I've discovered that if I can go on line, I will. I think I'm more productive writing on my laptop in the living room, where I can't connect to the cable modem.
Maybe tomorrow I'll upload what I have so far onthe official site, just so I can see how it looks all prettied up.
I completely sympathize with how online life can distract from actual writing. When I was trying to finish my thesis, my other half would unplug the phone line before he went out in the morning, and only give me contact with the outside world again in the evening. It can be a fatal distraction.
