picowrimo lives!

a shorter version of NaNoWriMo for people who really aren't confident about doing a lot of writing, or whose style is more clipped, or who write poetry. They could aim for 500 or 5000 words in a month, and it could be called PicoWriMo.

I just finished a 7000+ word story. [wipes brow] I'm tempted to join, but I need to know more. Is it 5000 words in NaNoWriMo month (which is November?) or is it 5000 words a month for several of them until you have a novel?

It's 5000 words in NaNo month (or 500, if that's genuinely a more realistic target).

I think a lot of people don't do NaNo because 50,000 words really is beyond what they could currently do or what their style lets them do, so 5000 (or 500) words was to set a genuine, alternative target.

Great idea! The thought of trying to write 50,000 words in a month generally makes me want to give up and clean the house instead. I'm not sure I could even type that many words in 30 days. 5000 words, though, that's actually possible.
