Poor Jackie. Poor piggy.

Better than we'd remembered.

IMHO, the piggy is the very best thing about the episode. That and Jackie smacking the Doctor.

Yes, the smack is brilliant. Although I simply don't believe he hasn't been belted by someone's mother before in 900 years of space/time travel. Surely someone's mum thumped Pertwee?

Maybe Jo Grant's mum when she found out that her daughter flashed her knickers in front of some aliens...?

Or Romana's mum when she found out how many regenerations the Doctor let her use up.

I've always seen this two-parter as the unacknowledged gem of the season. It's not as deep as "The Empty Child," or even "The Parting of the Ways," but it does what it's trying to do just about perfectly, and it wouldn't be Doctor Who if we didn't spend some time on silly corridor chases and rampaging aliens.

Agreed about the piggy.

I nodded off last time I tried to watch this two-parter, so it seems watching it first thing on a Saturday morning with a nice fresh pot of coffee is the way to go in future. It was all very jolly.
