Blow the bloody doors off
Feb. 26th, 2003 10:20 amWe went to see Daredevil last night, on Jonathan Ross's recommendation. It was rather silly but, I thought, watchable - however, I was conscious of an increasingly hostile and indeed writhing presence at my side. After a particularly daft sex scene which culminated in the camera panning up to a blazing log fire, the cries of pain emanating from my SO forced me to lean over and ask if he would like to go and do something else. He leapt on the idea like a drowning man.
So we went to Borders and bought some DVDs. Getting home, we found out that most of them had been written by Troy Kennedy Martin: we'd bought some Reilly: Ace of Spies and The Italian Job. Amazingly, none of the episodes on The Sweeney: Diamond Geezers turned out to be by TKM. (The Sweeney: Diamond Geezers is a companion volume to The Sweeney: Car Chases and The Sweeney: Bank Jobs.)
We put on The Italian Job and it was, of course, a blast (and definitely a prime example of
msmanna's Law of the Unexplained Plot). It cost us less than the price of both cinema tickets for Daredevil. When? When will we learn?
