Well-Read Indeed!
Take that, Mrs. McGreevey!
You scored 115 of 290!
Wow! OK, some of those were really tricky--but you made it through! Not only would you pass most lit courses, you probably thought about being an English major. Actually, with those numbers, you might be a grad student! Have you given any thought to a PhD? You know they confer omniscience with those, right?

Then on the margin of the world I sit and think

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Have I given any thought to a PhD? Yes, and then I thought, why don't I spoon out my eyes instead? I never thought of being an "English major", in fact, my highest Eng Lit qualification is a GCSE.

I somehow, by sheer guesswork, managed to score 145. O.O Not that my MA is a 'proper' English degree, anyway (according to some of the academic staff here...)

155. Not bad for someone who's notionally a scientist. :)

Even the flawless are allowed an off day. Particularly in this heat.

Mwahaha! 126. Didn't even do English A-level... I just happen to like poetry a lot...

I just got her today and I am spamming everyone's journal to show her off... My friend [livejournal.com profile] wuzit2u made her for me.

whoa, I just saw Antonia Forest in your interest list! I always thought I was the only one left who'd heard of her!

I used to have all of them before my life imploded, damn it. I've reacquired Falconer's Lure but I miss the others like hell...

Aren't her books brilliant? Girls Gone By Press are in the middle of republishing them.

That's where I got Falconer's Lure. Quite a nice edition too, nicer than the one I used to have.

She's one of the very, very few authors who write books I can read from end to end then immediately start again - only Ursula LeGuin and maybe Patrick O'Brian when I'm in the mood have ever been that good.

I can finish up books by Bujold and then immediately start again.

She's been recommended to me many times over now, but she doesn't turn up in second hand bookshops very often... I may have to do some creative budgeting.

I couldn't imagine getting rid of my copies of her books, they are read, reread and much loved. I've seen US editions of some of her books turn up relatively cheaply (£4-5). It's quite a long series, so if you want a recommended route in, I'd be happy to make some suggestions.

Oooh, yes please. £4-£5 a pop, I could manage them gradually and still feed the dogs... Or I could check if my library has them, but I'd still have to clear my library fines first.

185, and the same 'Well-Read Indeed' result as your highly literate self.

Oh, and as for the omniscience, surely you've been there and done that?

I always have time to get a soft-shoe in.

I somehow scored 190--75%. This is a result of peering squint-eyed at the question and deciding it seems like it's shaped vaguely like a Bronte-saurus this time...

I was relying on the time-honoured, "It was a 'c' last time, and a 'b' before that... odds are it's a 'd' this time..."

Perhaps that is why they give the percentage scores according to age groups: so that the older and wiser don't trounce the young and foolish with their test-taking techniques...
