I saw the very last episode when I was in Canada last spring, but haven't seen any of the rest of it. I've not heard good things, but who cares, it's new West Wing!
I've seen at least three of your perfect television episodes--the DS9, "Objects in Space," and The West Wing, and I'm in complete accord. I remember being blown away by all of them. And I'm reading the best DS9 tie-in novel right now that explores the consequences of "In The Pale Moonlight." :)
I find your fifth item fascinating. I feel that interconnectedness--I experience it viscerally from time to time--but I don't know that "excited/happy/enthusiastic" would be how I'd characterize my reaction to it. Still...semantics. We agree, I'm sure, that it's very cool.
A novel exploring the consequences of 'In the Pale Moonlight'?! Who could have thought of such a thing?! I hope they're not making a hash of it ;-)
Feeling the fundamental interconnectedness of all things is probably the thing that makes me most purely happy. The excitement and enthusiasm connected with it are quite quiet, but the happiness is all-encompassing.
(There is also the grief-making version, which is feeling the wound in the world-soul, or something like that. Too much sadness to express in words.)
I couldn't help but feel that Number Five looked a little forlorn, all linkless and everything. Perhaps the link should be to a random googler. Of which there are numerous examples. I tried one, and the first two attempts were to non-existent pages.
Sigh: the fundamental interconnectedness is broken. :-(
I thought it looked lonely too, but couldn't think of anything to link to (was overwhelmed by the 'all things' bit). Mr A's suggestion seems to work well, tho'...
As an example of the fundamental connectedness of things, I wanted to tell you this:
I lurk on the girlsown listserv. Really, I am in deep lurk. I never respond to their long GO quizzes, as I know everyone knows far more about GO literature than I do. But yesterday, in the "GO weeds quiz" there was a quotation I recognized instantly. It was Rush Melendy with his victory garden, contemplating weeds that he has known.
And here I am, commenting in your Enright-friendly LJ.
