One other thing I did want to say about 'Bad Wolf' was just how frickin' marvellous the Controller was. All those years, enslaved body and mind by the Daleks, and still goes on fighting the long defeat. She needs an icon of her own, I'll have to think of something. Oh, and Mr A. pointed out that when the Doctor tells Rose, "I'm coming to get you", it is of course what Davina always says to an evicted housemaker. Clever RTD; clever Mr A..
I am really knackered at the moment - I had to go and have a nap this afternoon and I haven't had to do that for ages. Actually, the last time I did that on a regular basis was when I was writing A Game of Chess so I'm hoping it's indicative of high creativity going on somewhere. Anyway, I'm really sorry if it means I'm ages behind on emails and not really commenting and so on. Must go to bed. .
Coming to us soon on DVD, Redcap starring John Thaw: "Thaw plays Sgt John Mann of the Royal Military Police's Special Investigation Branch in this groundbreaking, gritty drama which has not been seen since its original transmission on ITV in October 1964." Cool. The people releasing it have just - thank god - acquired the rights to release Callan so I might soon be able to have more than the 9 episodes I've been limited to.

Date: 2005-06-13 02:26 pm (UTC)I did something similar on Saturday - got up around 10am, went back to bed at 2pm and slept for most of the afternoon.
And that's a very good point about the controller.
And that's an excellent icon.

Date: 2005-06-13 02:27 pm (UTC)My theory is she was supposed to be Suki from the earlier episode but they couldn't get the actress or something. The 'they're nobone' line would have been (even more) Significant, it would make (a hell of a lot) more sense why she called the Doctor (using very similar guerilla tactics to before) and the Doctor's 'I did this' speech would have happened when he met her again, suspended from the cables. Also, her infiltration, resistance, defeat and death this time would have mirrored the earlier ep perfectly. She even looked like her. [/whacky theory]

I'm sorry about the tiredness. I seem to be somewhere similar myself at the moment. Well, except for the creativity, of course. ;-) I hope that that's going well. I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Date: 2005-06-13 04:54 pm (UTC)That reminds me of
She was a strikingly realised character, I thought. Both visually and in the actress' performance.
Sorry you're feeling worn out - hope the naps will keep the brain topped up.

Date: 2005-06-13 11:01 pm (UTC)Naps are natural, naps are good. Don't forget that a lot of med countries have a national built in nap! So if you are feeling a bit worried about it just start calling it a siesta!
...and I'm certain I read somewhere that children who take naps are far more creative and productive so I'm sure that it holds for adults too.*
*I can't remember where though so I might have dreamed it.

Help yourself to the icon, should you so desire!
