Jimmy Page. Dark and mysterious. You're very
creative and talented, and although you may not
get everyone's attention right away, you blow
them away with what you've got hidden up your
sleeve.

Which member of Led Zeppelin are you?

Hey, on [livejournal.com profile] instant_fanzine we are discussing Persuasion next month. Admittedly some months virtually no discussion of the book of the month takes place, but you might be interested?

I'm, er, trying to follow the train of thought there. It's conjuring up a really interesting discussion... "A to Z: are Zeppelin the natural heirs of Austen's tradition?"

Austen to Zeppelin - I love it. If stranded for a while, having the collected works of Jane Austen in one volume, and the Led Zeppelin Box Set and a walkman would whittle away a lot of days.

My kid is trying to get me to buy her a Les Paul so she can play it with her violin bow. She may have to settle for a less impressive instrument until she learns how to play.

We did find the dual neck SG on a big music sales web site.

we got my daughter a child version of a fender, with a mini amp, for her thirteenth birthday in march. She practices every day, and she's joined a guitar club at school - best musical instrument we could have got her. Last night she told me how 'fake plastic trees' was good pratice becuase it has lots of chord changes. I'm like, what is this language you speak?

If you are interested I can ask H where he got the guitar.

(when I say child version, it is full size, but made of light materials)

Thanks for the advice. We have been to several music stores, and now that she has prices in perspective, a Fender is high on her list. The child fender is only a bit smaller than a standard. Her current desire is a Blue Stratocaster. She is 5 foot tall now, and growing fast, so I think a full size will be OK. Either one would be $450 with a good case.

We have been surfing a bit, and found two good looking internet sites:

Music123

MusiciansFriend

They have prices similar to the big discount store near us, and a far wider selection. I was wondering if you had any knowledge of either.

My partner did the buying, and he's out at the moment. I'll ask him when I see him.

Another link. The Gibson Custom Shop exact replica of Jimmy Page's custom Les Paul. The ultimate fangirl accessory.

Jimmy Page Les Paul

I won't be buying her this one.

Mr A. has a Les Paul, but I'm buggered if I know which model.

Not surprising, there are about a zillion variants, and many older ones have been modified or repaired with different pickups, controls, and hardware. They currently list at least a dozen new types, plus signature models.

It is a subject for loremasters.
