Yes. I don't basically mind having an ID card, though I think it will make sod all difference to the apprehension of terrorists, who I am sure are bright enough to ensure they have suitable docs. But I do object to paying an enormous sum for something compulsory. It isn't on a par with driving licences or passports, one can live without either of those.
My main objections are the waste of public money that will be wasted by these cards, and the type of information the government is planning to encode onto it.
I dislike the idea of random people accessing my medical and (non-exisitent) criminal records, which our beloved govt is planning to encode onto an embedded chip.
Would WE be able to read what's stored on the cards? I doubt it.
I also dislike the notion that i should need to prove my identity to random police bods on demand.
