Oh why isn't there any Bujold fanfic? Now, this minute, to fill up my afternoon?

You know about Time Shall Not Mend (http://ajhall.shoesforindustry.net/), which is a Harry Potter/Vorkosigan crossover, and really rather good?

I did not know that, thank you! Yippee, that's my afternoon sorted!

You could write some. That would fill plenty of afternoons ;)

Too many afternoons. And far too much like hard work. I want some instant gratification.

That would do me for a little while as I wait for my Vorkosigan fix.

I increasingly realize...that I am in love with Aral. I've also become very fond of Ivan, who needs his own....book?....umm, woman? :-)

On a Dunnett LJ community, someone is trying to organize a "Five things that never happened to..." scheme for Lymond Chronicles characters. I'm not sure this one will get off the ground!

Ivan definitely needs his own book. I fear what kind of woman will eventually snag him. Someone exactly like Alys, I imagine.

Hm, "Five Things that Never Happened to Gregor Vorbarra"...

I haven't come across any pure Bujold fanfic, but I've found a couple of good crossovers. There's a Bujold/Buffy crossover (no, I assure you, it works) by Don Sample called With A Star. Then there's a Bujold/Firefly crossover, "Refuge", by Elizabeth Ann Lewis, which is from the Firefly point of view initially, but it still works.

I've also read a Sentinel/Bujold crossover (a parallel universe insertion one) which, while it has potential, doesn't seem to be living up to it.

Great! Thank you! A 'Firefly' one looks like it'll be fun. It's weird there are so many crossovers rather than pure fanfic - I wonder why that is.

I reckon it's because some/many people are reluctant to write fanfic based on books while being quite happy to write TV/Movie-based fanfic. Not wanting to step on the author's toes, so to speak.

And the chance of more to come which might make the fanfic invalid (not the case with writing e.g. Tolkien fic).

Well, that doesn't seem to stop people writing TV fanfic while a show is still running, even though what is to come could well make the fanfic invalid.

Possibly less of that sense of stepping on the author's toes, perhaps. It amazes me there's so little Vorkosigan fic - you'd think they were a set of characters that people would want to play with.

Which they probably would if there was a movie or series as well... (sighs in rapture at the thought of a Miles mini-series...) And filming techniques have progressed far enough, they wouldn't have to pick a dwarf to play Miles...

But who would do a good job? And what about Cordelia?

Ooh, I'm terrible at dream-casting, but I would love to see a film or a mini-series of 'The Vor Game'.

Eureka! Google does it again. Look here! I don't know if any of it is any good, I've never seen this site before.

I had been to that page some time ago, but it looks like there's substantially more been added since I last visited. Thank you!
