Having seen both, I can assure you Peter Pan is far less depressing than Cold Mountain. Peter Pan left me feeling wistful and a bit melancholy; Cold Mountain left me too emotionally shattered to feel much of anything. A great movie, mind you, but if you want to feel happy when you leave the theater, it's the wrong choice.
