communicator posted a link a while back to Richard Thompson's list of the best popular songs from the last 1000 years. Being a fan of the Miserable But Talented One, and recently having actually earned some money(!), I coughed up for the CD, and jolly good it is too. Not often you find yourself listening to music hall songs and bits of The Mikado arranged (as he points out on the sleeve notes) for acoustic guitar and snare drum. But my current favourites are Oops! I Did It Again (yes, that one), and the 13th century fragment (possibly from Brittany) Marry, Ageyn Hic Hev Donne Yt.
