I'm delighted to say that I'm a contributor to the forthcoming book from Mad Norwegian Press, Chicks Unravel Time.

From Amazon:

The sister book to the 2011 Hugo Award-winning Chicks Dig Time Lords...

In Chicks Unravel Time, editors Deborah Stanish (Whedonistas) and L.M. Myles bring together a host of award-winning female writers, media professionals and scientists to examine each season of new and classic Doctor Who from their unique perspectives.

Diana Gabaldon discusses how Jamie McCrimmon inspired her best-selling Outlander series, and Barbara Hambly (Benjamin January Mysteries) examines the delicate balance of rebooting a TV show. Seanan McGuire (Toby Daye series) reveals the power and pain of waiting in Series 5, and Una McCormack (The King's Dragon) argues that Sylvester McCoy's final year of Doctor Who is the show's best season ever.

Other contributors include Juliet E. McKenna (Einarrin series), Tansy Rayner Roberts (Power and Majesty), Sarah Lotz (The Mall), Martha Wells (The Cloud Roads), Joan Frances Turner (Dust), Rachel Swirsky ("Fields of Gold") and Aliette de Bodard (Obsidian and Blood series).

Yes, season 26 is the BEST EVER season of Doctor Who. And the book is out in November, so you can find out why then!

Anything which promises to broaden understanding of Doctor Who, its audience and its influences gets my vote, and I look forward to your account of season 26.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

Una McCormack (The King's Dragon) argues that Sylvester McCoy's final year of Doctor Who is the show's best season ever...

Quite right! :) I still find it hard to forgive Michael Grade for cancelling the show when he did.

Point of information (a pedant writes): Grade was long gone by 1989; Jonathan Powell as controller of BBC1, Mark Shivas as head of drama, and Peter Cregeen as head of series and serials were the decision-makers. Otherwise, IMO the production team were slowly learning how to make Doctor Who again, and were denied the opportunity to continue to improve.

My apologies to Mr Grade.

To add insult to injury, they also cancelled the show that replaced "Doctor Who" - "The Tripods" - after a couple of seasons, just when, after a slow start, it was becoming interesting.

The Tripods didn't replace Doctor Who - they were in production at the same time in 1984, and when the 1985 series of The Tripods proved to be the last, Doctor Who took over its Saturday timeslot for the 1986 season. The Tripods died so that Doctor Who might live...

Congratulations! Great title.
I am amused about the "Mad Norwegian Press". There are benefits to coming from what the outside world generally view as one of the dullest nations on Earth (or perhaps less so now, sadly), along with Switzerland.

Thank you!

I think that the publisher, Lars Pearson, although American born may be of Norwegian descent?
