What you need to do is change the ( ) to < > brackets (there are two sets). Then change the text 'Link to essay' to whatever you would like to have written there instead.
This is exactly the same as you would do a link anywhere else. You might have spotted this already - I don't know how much HTML you know.
If you don't know much/any HTML, it's really easy. If you have a look in the FAQ, it'll also teach you the basics of HTML (scroll down to the fifth block of questions, under Journal Entries and take a look at the bits about how to make text bold and italics, etc.). There's also a bit about tags specific to LiveJournal, which will give you, e.g. that little head icon when you link to someone else's journal.

Date: 2003-07-30 06:01 pm (UTC)Ooh, er, well, I didn't ask for permission, so I hope koimistress would be OK!
how do you post a link to another LJ?
Linking directly to the post itself is dead easy. Copy and paste this when you update your journal:
(a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/koimistress/8729.html")Link to essay(/a)

Apologies if you know all the HTML stuff already.
