[livejournal.com profile] amplificathon 2008 has been finishing up this week in a veritable smorgasbord of audio-visual delights! Some of which I shall list here for your Friday pleasure.

The idea behind the 'thon was to increase the number and variety of stories in the podfic archive: as a result six hundred stories have been added, from one hundred and five new fandoms. Wow. There is surely something there you'd enjoy listening to, so go and find it and listen to it and tell the people involved how smashing they are, since they are all so smashing.

Onto the goodies.

First of all, pop-pickers, here is my awesome Seventies-style participation banner:

Ah, tape. How I miss you.

Crown yourself: There is also a participants' crown: by 'participants' the organizers mean "if you recorded, listened, thought about recording but didn't have the time, helped promote the community, filled out the poll, had generally positive thoughts towards the challenge, and/or whatever, please feel free to jump in on the crown party". You know you want to.

I haven't done mine yet: I was thinking of painting it black and then putting big silver stars on it so that it looks like the one Morgoth got done for himself after he pinched the Silmarils. You decide:

[Poll #1204183]

Small Fandoms Anthology: From this page you can download the 2008 [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon small fandoms anthology (as a podbook or as individual files). That's a collection of the first 21 readers to post in new fandoms (including me, yay!).

Tolkien fics: Fabulous reader [livejournal.com profile] greyonblue has done two more recordings. One of my vignette In Passing. Also a fantastic version of Anna L Milton's Queen's Gambit: Faramir and Arwen play a game of chess. Politics, the Alekhine Defence by any other name and Faramir taking his clothes off - a description that is as accurate as it is misleading. How can you possibly resist that? Go. Enjoy.
