As a stranger dropping in, I won't spout at length, but as someone who works with young children in a school library setting, I would like to salute you for recognising the power and importance DW has as a programme watched and loved by children. It's an aspect that is frequently forgotten in fandom, which tends to home in on the things not allowed on screen.
The "telling stories" theme of the finale reminded me very strongly of the way Lyra dealt with the Underworld in The Amber Spyglass (not the first HDM parallel we've seen in DW, of course). May I put in my personal request for Philip Pullman to get his own episode soon?
Oh, and you have to love someone who icons Little My. May I friend you please?
